Amos 5:10-12, “They hate the one who convicts the guilty at the city gate and despise the one who speaks with integrity. Therefore, because you trample on the poor and exact a grain tax from him, you will never live in the houses of cut stone you have built; you will never drink the wine from the lush vineyards you have planted. For I know your crimes are many and your sins innumerable. They oppress the righteous, take a bribe, and deprive the poor of justice at the gates.”
Amos Chapter 6 is written to convict the Jewish Nation of injustice, impure Government and a concentration on the part of the people to amass houses, land and money. It is very difficult for many, including me, to put aside political biases, but I urge you to look at the Word of God through the illumination of God the Holy Spirit for understanding. In our court systems, we rarely convict the innocent, but very often allow the guilty to go free of punishment because of the chicanery and distortion of the truth in courts of law. The individuals who speak the plain, unvarnished truth are often accused of being what is termed ‘politically incorrect’ or somehow abusive or disdaining of those who do not wish to hear the pure truth.
Because of the financial crisis that affects countries across the world, nations are trying desperately to remain financially solvent by balancing the tax burden with the rising prices and decreased employment. In the United States we have seen fraud, duplicity, false promises, over-borrowing requiring eventual if not immediate tax increases. All of these financial sins have had a serious effect on the least prosperous members of the American taxpayers.
God has promised in clear terms that those who oppress the righteous, take illegal money, agree to sell their influence or deprive men or women of justice will be adjudged guilty at the feet of Jesus who is the ultimate Judge.
Our Heavenly Father who hates injustice, we pray for government leaders and decision makers across the earth. May they be wise, pure, seekers of justice not personal gain, and remember your admonition to remember the poor among us. Guide us in our personal finances that we may do all things in accordance with your will, in Jesus name we pray.
